Manuscript Submission Process
Submission Channels
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s manuscript submission system. Authors should ensure they follow the specified platform to avoid any submission errors. The submitting author automatically assumes the role of the corresponding author, responsible for all correspondence regarding the manuscript. Contact information for all co-authors (full name, email address, institutional affiliation, and mailing address) must be provided.
Cover Letter Requirements
All manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter. This letter should briefly describe the significance of the study and its relevance to the scope of Tropical Journal of Chemistry. Additionally, the cover letter should include a statement confirming that the manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere. Editorial Process and Peer Review
Initial Appraisal
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief to assess its suitability for further review and publication. The Editor evaluates the relevance, novelty, and quality of the manuscript.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial appraisal will proceed to peer review. The peer review process is conducted by independent, anonymous experts in the field. These referees will assess the manuscript's scientific rigor, methodology, and contribution to the discipline.
Acknowledgment of Submission
Upon receipt of the manuscript, the corresponding author will receive an acknowledgment email confirming submission. The journal strives to complete the review process within a reasonable timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards.
Publication Costs and Open Access Fees
Open Access Publication
All accepted articles will be published online as open access, ensuring that the research is freely available to all users worldwide.
Publication Charges
To cover the costs of open access, authors are required to pay a publication fee upon acceptance of their manuscript. The publication fee is set at ₦50,000 for Nigerian authors and research conducted within Nigeria, while $100 for international authors. There is no fee for manuscript submission. Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure their manuscript meets the following requirements:
a) The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
b) It adheres to Tropical Journal of Chemistry formatting and referencing style.
c) All authors have approved the submission.
d) A cover letter with the required statement of originality is attached.
e) Figures, tables, and data are properly formatted and cited.
f) References conform to the mix of APA 7th/Vancouver citation style with accurate formatting. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the corresponding author without review.
Privacy Statement
The information provided during the submission and review process will be used exclusively for publication purposes in Tropical Journal of Chemistry and will not be shared with third parties. The journal is committed to protecting the privacy of authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders in compliance with relevant privacy laws.
Frequency of Publication
Tropical Journal of Chemistry publishes Four (04) issues per year. The journal aims to maintain a consistent and timely publication schedule, ensuring that research is disseminated rapidly.
Abstracting and Indexing
The journal is dedicated to ensuring maximum visibility and dissemination of its published research. While it is in the process of securing indexing in major scientific platforms, it is currently indexed in Google Scholar and Open J-Gate. Efforts are underway to expand indexing to other significant platforms such as Scopus and Web of Science.
Copyright Policy
By submitting a manuscript to Tropical Journal of Chemistry, authors confirm that the work is not published elsewhere and is not under consideration for publication in any other journal. Upon acceptance, authors transfer the copyright of their manuscript to the publisher. This means that the manuscript will not be republished in any language without the written consent of the copyright holders. All articles published in the journal are protected by copyright, including exclusive rights for production and distribution (e.g., reprints) and translation. No material may be reproduced in any form, including electronic formats, without explicit written permission from the publisher. Authors are encouraged to consider appropriate licensing options, such as Creative Commons, to retain some rights over their work.
