Plagiarism Policy

The Tropical Journal of Chemistry (TJC) adheres to a strict policy against plagiarism to uphold the integrity of scholarly publishing. Authors submitting manuscripts to TJC are expected to maintain the highest ethical standards in research and writing. Any detected form of plagiarism will result in appropriate action by the Editorial Board.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the unauthorized use of another person’s ideas, concepts, language, or work presented as one’s original contribution. This includes:
    1. Self-Plagiarism: Reuse of previously published content without proper citation or acknowledgement, including republishing substantial portions of an earlier work in a different journal.
    2. Partial Plagiarism: Combining content from multiple sources without proper attribution or significant rephrasing.
    3. Full Plagiarism: Direct reproduction of previously published material, including text, ideas, or grammar, without modification or acknowledgement.

Plagiarism Detection
    1. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous plagiarism screening process using advanced software tools.
    2. The maximum allowable similarity index, excluding references and author details, is 17%, with no string of seven or more consecutive words matching.
    3. Pre-Submission Screening: Authors are strongly encouraged to use plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate before submission to verify the originality of their work and ensure compliance with TJC’s plagiarism policy.

Consequences of Plagiarism
    1. Before Publication:
        a) If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the submission or review process, authors will be notified and required to address the issue by revising the manuscript or appropriately citing the original sources.
        b) If the authors fail to comply with these requirements, the manuscript may be rejected.
    2. After Publication:
        a) If plagiarism is discovered post-publication, the journal reserves the right to retract the article and notify the academic community, including the authors’ affiliated institutions.

Author Responsibilities
    1. Authors must ensure that their submissions are original and free from any form of plagiarism.
    2. It is highly recommended that authors use plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate prior to submission to verify the originality of their work and avoid potential issues during the review process.
    3. In cases of suspected plagiarism, authors are encouraged to address any concerns prior to submission to prevent future complications.
